Do you need it?
Short answer, probably not. Although it’s a nice thing to have, actually finding use cases for it when you have a smartphone is difficult. Prices for these things have also not gone down at all. If you really want one for whatever reason, try to get them second hand instead, will save you money and you’ll regret it less if you end up not using as much as you thought.
One piece of advice for people who buy these things, just turn it off instead of putting them to sleep. In sleep state they still consume the battery quite rapidly. For the occasional times on which I actually use mine, the batteries were already out. I use rechargeable ones and I always have extras so not that big of a problem, but can be an inconvenience for some people.
