Glossika review
Now this video got quite a bit of down votes from people who really like Glossika as my review of this service isn’t really great. But many people asked me to review this service and when I review applications/websites to learn Japanese, I really compare quality and price versus other alternatives.
The good parts
- Glossika has a wide range of available languages to choose from which you can learn;
- Easy and clean interface;
- Good for sentence mining.
The bad parts
- No app, only a website;
- Buggy website;
- Short trial;
- High price;
- No support.
The struggle
Their site really needs some work as registering and logging in was quite a painful experience without any feedback what exactly was going wrong. Just to registering my account took hours and I still don’t know what went wrong, I reached out to Glossika but never got a reply.
7 day trial?
The 7 day trial is rather short compared to other trial periods and for someone who works full time this really is not enough as you can not get a very good grasp of their system at later stages. I really wish their trial would at lest be 2 weeks to a month.
Pretest
The test you have to take to start using a course is kind of lacking, even if you have everything correct, you still are only at level b2. There are 2 levels higher which are c1 and c2. You can not choose by yourself at which level you would want to start at, this may not be a problem if the pretest would be a bit better at deciding your current level.
Pricing
The pricing is quite high compared to other similar services. If you don’t mind paying a premium for a site which is buggy and has no support, then go ahead. If you don’t mind those things, Glossika could actually be a great addition to your tools for learning a language. The main reason why I dislike Glossika is just their buggy site and no response from support, I guess they only reply to support tickets which are submitted by paying customers or I hope that at least paying members get support.
Little disclaimer
People seem to really dislike my review of Glossika, but this is all my opinion and my experience with their service, if you have a better experience with them then that’s great! Everything in this article and the video is my opinion and for me the kind of bugs I found were things which should not happen from a service with that kind of a price tag.
I really hope they fix those bugs, but even before making the video I reached out to them and never got a reply to my questions. If you want to tell me that I’m wrong and want to talk about your experience with Glossika, than please type a comment in a positive way to explain to others what you think of Glossika. Don’t write negative comments as those don’t help anyone.
